From Principal – Term 4, Week 8

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff and Students

Now we are into December, the summer season has well and truly arrived.  The early arrival of summer really puts us in the mood for Christmas.  Here at school, it is certainly beginning to feel very festive indeed!

The Second Week of Advent is about “Peace.” The Gospel reading tells us,

“A voice cries in the wilderness:

Prepare a way for the Lord, make his paths straight…

And all mankind shall see the salvation of God.”

During Advent we are encouraged to think about how we can “prepare a way” in our everyday life to feel at peace with God and others, in our families, our school and in our wider community.

Semester Two Reports

Semester Two Reports for students from Pre-Primary to Year Six will be made available to parents on Wednesday 8th December.  It has been my pleasure to read through all the reports and see the progress that our students have made across a variety of curriculum areas.  All students should be proud of their achievements this semester.  Please take the time to share the information in the report with your child and celebrate their achievements.  Please make sure you have checked your SEQTA access prior to 8th December.

School Fees and Amenities Levy 2022

The school fees for 2022 have been set, as explained in last week’s newsletter.  There has been no increase in academic fees for 2022, however, there has been a slight increase in the amenity fee for all year levels, Pre-Primary to Year Six.  There is no increase for Kindy.  The school fees schedule for 2022 is available on the website: https://www.gibney.wa.edu.au/fees/

Vocal Lessons 2022

Our Music Tutor, Ms Mary Doyle, will be available for individual vocal (singing) lessons in 2022.  Lessons will be available for students from Years 3-6.  The lessons will be held at school on Monday mornings.  There are limited places available.  A registration form is available in the office, should you be interested in signing up for vocal lessons for your child in 2022.  Mary can be contacted via the following email should you have any queries.  doylem135@gmail.com

End of Year Concert

Don’t forget the end of year Nativity Play and Edu Dance Concert tomorrow evening, commencing at 6.00pm.  The gates will open at 4.45pm for parents who may like to come along earlier to enjoy a picnic. Students need to be here by 5.30pm so they be fully prepared in their classrooms before the concert starts. It promises to be a terrific evening of entertainment.

Graduation and Thanksgiving Mass

We look forward to the Year Six Graduation and Thanksgiving Mass and Awards Ceremony on Thursday 9th December commencing at 9.05am in the undercover area.  All parents and friends are invited to attend.  This is an opportunity to gather to thank God for the gifts we have all received during the year and to farewell and bless our Year Six students as they complete their Primary School education.

I look forward to welcoming parents and friends to the Year Six final assembly tomorrow morning, commencing at 9.00am.

Best wishes for the final week of the school year!

Making Jesus Real – Week 8 Term 4

We have continued to focus on the importance of CHEERFULNESS.

Keeping a positive outlook.

Looking for ways to be helpful.

Giving wholeheartedly.

Being optimistic amidst the currents of life.

Feeling confident and happy.

Trusting in the goodness of life.

ADVENT

The second Advent Wreath Candle is known as the Peace Candle.  This candle reminds us of the Peace that Christ brings.  We remember that in the Christmas story, the angels appear to the shepherds and proclaim,

“Peace on earth”

Luke 2:14.

Through His birth, Jesus brought about peace – peace with God, self and others.   The peace of Christ allows us to look at others through God’s eyes.  This peace allows us to trust in God’s promises (Proverbs 3:5), so we have peace of mind knowing God will heal this broken world and will come again.
