Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students
Welcome Night and Disco
I look forward to welcoming families and friends to the annual Welcome Night and Disco tonight in the Undercover Area commencing at 5.30 pm. The P&F committee have put a lot of effort into ensuring a great night for our community. There will be plenty of treats on sale for the students and younger children. Please come along and join in with other parents and families. It promises to be a fun evening. Parents are reminded to kindly take full responsibility for their own children and make sure they are in sight and safe at all times.
Caritas Fund Raiser
Thank you for supporting the Crazy Socks Day fundraiser for Caritas. We have raised money for the victims of the Syria and Turkey earthquake. Your donations will make a difference in the relief efforts for the millions of people who have had their lives affected by the earthquake disaster.
School Photos
Class, individual and whole school photos will take place on Monday 27th March for students from Kindy-Year 6. The Pre-Kindy photos will take place on Tuesday 28th March. A letter explaining the school photo ordering system, from Midland Photographs, will be sent home on Monday for all year levels – Tuesday for Pre-Kindy families. Please note that online ordering will be available from Monday 27th February until Wednesday 12th April.
Family Information Updates Collection Documents
Family information forms were sent home in Week One. The forms were due back on 10th February; however, we have several forms outstanding. The information is vital for our annual records and contact information must be kept up to date. It is essential that the forms are returned to school by Monday 20th February, even if there are no changes. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
P&F Meeting
It was wonderful to see so many parents attending the first P&F Meeting for the year. Thank you for your attendance and your enthusiasm for the P&F. We look forward to the Welcome Disco on Friday evening as the first event for the school year. There are other activities planned during the year and I encourage parents to look out for notices on class Facebook pages and in the newsletter. A vibrant school is one where our parents and families are involved and active.
Ash Wednesday Mass
Our students will gather for the first whole school Mass for the year on Wednesday 22nd March. This will be Ash Wednesday, the commencement of the Church Season of Lent. The students will travel to and from St Francis of Assisi Church on the school bus. Parents and friends are most welcome to attend. During the Mass, our Year 5 students will be presented with their Mini Vinnie badges.
Pupil Free Day
Don’t forget we have a pupil free day on Friday 24th February. The staff will be participating in a Mathematics Workshop with Dr Paul Swan.
Prayer
At our school gathering on Monday morning the Year 6 students reminded us that the 13th of February is the anniversary of the national apology to the Indigenous peoples of Australia. The apology commemoration coincided with our Making Jesus Real value of “Friendly.” The student spoke about the importance of saying sorry to our friends. This is what Jesus expects from us in our daily lives.
God of Justice,
We come to seek your guidance, wisdom and compassion
As we pray for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
who have been wronged in the past,
may our hearts be open to receive your healing grace,
so that we in turn bring healing to each other.
We ask this prayer through Christ, our Lord,
Amen.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the Welcome Disco this evening. Have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes
Therese
