Lent and Project Compassion
On Wednesday the students attended Ash Wednesday Mass at St Francis of Assisi Church. We were pleased to be able to share in a celebration of the Mass with the parishioners. This was the first school and parish Mass at the Church since 2021. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Church Season of Lent. It is a time to focus on our relationship with God, and how we can be disciples of Jesus, in the way we act with others and in the ways in which we support the wider human family. It was the perfect way to commission our Year 5 students as members of the Mini Vinnies Association.
Mini Vinnies and Project Compassion
The responsibility of the Mini Vinnies is to reach out with a sense of justice, by raising awareness and through fundraising, to those in our human family who require support, care and compassion. The Mini Vinnies will lead the school during Term One in our support of Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion 2023. Each year, Project Compassion comes as a timely reminder of the importance of solidarity and how a single act of kindness – whether big or small, can make a life-changing impact in the lives of those who need it most. The theme of Project Compassion is ‘For All Future Generations’. This phrase is a powerful affirmation that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. I am sure the Mini Vinnies will keep the theme in mind as they plan for Term One Project Compassion activities.
Dear Lord,
We pray for the ability to understand that God’s wisdom is greater than ours.
May our support for Project Compassion enable us to join Mary in saying yes to God’s plan of justice for the whole human family.
We pray that all people will have just access to the necessities of life.
May we, in our support for Project Compassion this Lent, do all we can to become a source of hope for those in need.

The P&F Welcome Disco was a wonderful success. It was terrific to see so many families come along and enjoy the evening. Thank you to the P&F organising committee!
Chocolate Fundraiser

Artist In Residence Project
Carolyn White, our Artist in Residence, has commenced the mosaic project and has worked with some classes during this week. Carolyn will be back next week to continue working on the project. Every student and staff member will have the opportunity to be involved. We look forward to seeing the finished product at the end of the term. Thank you to the P&F for supporting the Artist in Residence Project.
Cyber Safety Workshop
Parents and friends are reminded about the Cybersafe Workshop on Thursday 16th March in the library commencing at 6.30 pm. The workshop will assist parents in ensuring their children are safe in navigating the cyber world. Please come along – the workshop will provide valuable information for our families. Open Morning for New Families
An open morning for new and prospective parents will be held on Thursday 30th March. The school will be open at 9.00 am and again at 3.30 pm. Please invite neighbours and friends who may be interested in a Catholic education for their children to come along.
School Photos
Class, individual and whole school photos will take place on Monday 27th March for students from Kindy-Year 6. The Pre-Kindy photos will take place on Tuesday 28th March. A letter explaining the school photo ordering system, from Midland Photographs, has been sent home. Please note that online ordering will be available from Monday 27th February until Wednesday 12th April.
We look forward to welcoming parents to the Merit Award and MJR Award Assembly on Friday 3rd March. I will be away that day as my eldest child is getting married on Saturday 4th March. I have no idea where those years went. At last, I feel as though he is now a “grown-up.” We are praying for fine weather on the day.
