From Principal – Term 2, Week 8

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students

Next week we will have our Week of Wellness – WOW! This is an opportunity for us all to take a breath and try and balance our school, work, and family life.  Ideally, we should be always focusing on our personal wellbeing, however, the many demands on our time often make this challenging. I hope our parents can spend the week having a little more focus on family life activities.  A Seesaw message has been sent home outlining the events of WOW Week.

Prayer for the Wellbeing of Others

 Dear Father,
I thank You for who You are.
I pray that You give strength to the weary and increase the power of those who are weak right now,
whether they are struggling emotionally, physically or spiritually.
Lord I pray that they lean not on the way they feel,
but instead trust You because with You they can be made whole.
I thank You Lord for hearing my prayer right now,

Amen.

LifeLink 2023 Pyjama Day

We will raise money for the Archbishops’ LifeLink Charity on Wednesday 21st June by having Pyjama Day.  Students are invited to wear their pyjamas to school and bring a gold coin donation.  Who would not want to come to school on a cold morning in their snug and warm pyjamas?  I know the staff are really looking forward to it.  The day should be great fun, however, we need to remember that we are raising money for West Australian charities who support a range of people with food, housing, financial and social services.

NAIDOC Week Celebrations

This has been a busy week with our students involved in a range of activities for NAIDOC Week.  We have seen our students listening to stories, completing artwork, participating in buddy activities, enjoying bush tucker food, and making message sticks.  The highlight for the week was the wonderful incursion with Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse.  It was such a treat to listen to the Noongar stories, learn some Noongar words and enjoy the wonderful music.  We look forward to inviting Gina and Guy to our school again next year.

Semester One Reports

Teachers are busy preparing the Semester One Reports for students from Pre-Primary to Year Six. Teachers put a huge amount of work into preparing the reports as a useful tool for parents to understand their child’s progress by the end of Semester One. Reports will be made available to parents on Friday 30th June.  Parents are able to access the Semester One Reports using their SEQTA Engage log-in link.  New parents and parents of Pre-Primary students will be sent a link to activate.  Other parents should check their links from last year.  Please contact the administration office if you require assistance with your report login link.

Containers for Change Recycling

The P&F have introduced a recycling initiative for Containers for Change.  We have 2 bins available outside the canteen that will be used by students and staff to recycle cans, bottles and containers from the canteen.  Parents are encouraged to use the bins, at any time, to drop off cans or other recyclable containers from home.  All money raised from the recycling will go towards the P&F fundraising efforts.  Thank you for supporting this new P&F initiative.

UR Strong Workshop – 22nd June

A workshop to introduce our parents to the UR Strong Friendship Program will be facilitated by Chloe Grant, Social Worker, on Thursday 22nd June at 9.00 am.  Parents are encouraged to come along.  Staff will launch the UR Strong Program at the Assembly on Friday 23rd June.  Some classes have commenced the program and the students are beginning to use some of the language.  We look forward to completing further work on UR Strong in Term Three.

Merit Awards and UR Strong Launch Assembly

Please join us on Friday 23rd June at 9.00am for our final Merit Award Assembly for the Term.  We will be launching the UR Strong Program during the assembly.  We look forward to seeing you.

Best wishes for the weekend.

Warm regards

Therese
