From Principal – Term 2, Week 9

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students

The students and staff have enjoyed the various activities for our Week of Wellness.  Pyjama Day was a big hit!  The visit by Liturgical Musician, Michael Mangan, was a special treat, as were the Milo Mornings and the opportunity to wear sports uniforms every day.

Our students enjoyed the visit from acclaimed Liturgical Musician, Michael Mangan.  Michael had the students singing and doing actions to songs they were familiar with.  He also introduced a few new songs, which we are looking forward to singing in Masses and Liturgies. Michael commented afterwards on just how well the students sing. Their voices were in fine form, and we are proud of our strong singing culture.

Best Wishes to Mrs Nickels and Mrs Aldred

Our very best wishes to Mrs Nickels as she commences her well-deserved Long Service Leave on Tuesday 27th June.  We wish Mrs Nickels, and her family, safe travels during her break and we look forward to welcoming Gina back with us on 14th August.

We send our best wishes to Mrs Aldred who commences Long Service Leave in Term Three.  Mrs Aldred will be taking a break for the entire term and we look forward to welcoming her back for the commencement of Term Four. Happy travels, Mrs Aldred!

Welcome Ms Keighley Malcolm and Mr Mathew Laurenson

We welcome Ms Keighley Malcolm, who will be taking over as Year One Teacher, commencing next week.   Welcome Mr Mathew Laurenson who will be working as Music Teacher during Term Three.  We wish Keighley and Mathew a happy association at our school over the coming weeks.

Congratulations to Year 6 Student, Beneth

Congratulations to Beneth, who has been offered a position in Year 7 in the Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance program at Perth Modern School. Beneth is an outstanding student with a strong work ethic. She is most deserving of this placement. Congratulations Beneth!

Semester One Mid-Year Reports

Semester One Reports will be available to parents on Friday 30th June.  Reports will be available through the login at Seqta Engage. Teachers have spent hours preparing the reports.  Grades allocated are against the work that has been completed in Semester One and grades are determined against the WA Curriculum Judging Standards.   Students in Years 1-6 are graded against the A-D levels.  A description of each grade is in the table below.

Students in Pre-Primary are graded using the following Achievement Descriptors:

Parents are reminded that they may make an appointment to speak to the classroom teacher if there are any concerns about the Mid-Year Report.

P&F Meeting

Our final P&F Meeting for Term Two is on Wednesday 28th June at 7.30 pm.  Please come along, if you can, and join with other parents as they plan fundraising and friend-raising activities for Semester Two.

Lost Property

The lost property box continues to astound me.  There are jumpers, tracksuit jackets, lunch boxes and drink bottles, all un-named, waiting to be collected.  Please take the time to double-check the lost property box, prior to the end of the term.  All clothing not claimed will be donated to the second-hand uniforms in the Uniform Centre.  Please check that your child’s name is on all clothing and belongings.

Merit Awards and UR Strong Launch Assembly

Please join us on Friday 23rd June at 9.00 am for our final Merit Award Assembly for the Term.  We will be launching the UR Strong Program during the assembly.  We look forward to seeing you.

Making Jesus Real – Cheerfulness

The MJR value for the final weeks of the term is Cheerfulness.  We see so many examples of our students’ cheerfulness throughout each day.  We have so much to be grateful for – cheerfulness should be an easy value for us to live.

Dear God,

Hear my prayers for happiness and grant me everlasting joy and eternal life in your kingdom.

Allow me to discover life and spread your word with my friends and family.

Take away all the sorrow with your mighty power and let the morning sunshine light my path and give me all the reason to live and rejoice in the abundant life here on earth.

Lord, with your loving kindness, fill my spirit.

Amen.

Best wishes for the weekend.

Warm regards

Therese
