Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School would like to acknowledge the
Traditional Owners of the land, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation
and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
Here is the land, here is the sky.
Here are my friends and here am I.
We thank the Whadjuk Noongar people
for the land on which we play and learn.
Hands up, hands down
We’re on Noongar ground.
Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students,
Creator God,
Thank you for providing us with the gift to share our talents.
Provide our community, our nation, our world the fortitude
to provide work for all which is decent and fair.
Make us faithful stewards of your creation to enhance
the human dignity of our global family.
Over the course of this week, I have seen so many people in our school community sharing their talents and working for the good of our children. We are truly blessed and I thank all our volunteers – classroom parent helpers, our canteen grandmothers, our reading book exchangers, our P&F – for your hard work.
P & F Bunnings Cake Stall and Sausage Sizzle
Our P&F will be holding a Cake Stall at the Kalamunda Bunnings this Saturday 29th July and then a Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Midland Saturday 5th August. Please come along and support these two events.
Carpark Update
The kerbing for the carpark will be completed over the weekend (fingers crossed – weather dependent), and the bitumen the following week. We ask parents to not park on the verge of resident’s homes along Worrell Ave, as this is impacting the footpath. Thank you for your continued patience as we complete this project.
Year 6 Confirmation
Many of our Year 6 students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday 19th August 6 pm. The Parent and Student Workshop will be held on Wednesday 2nd August at 5 pm.
Feast of St Mary of the Cross
We will be celebrating our first Australian saint, Mary MacKillop on Tuesday 8th August, with a prayer liturgy at 9 am in the Undercover Area. We warmly welcome all parents and family to attend.
Feast of the Assumption 15th August
Fr Anthony Suresh will be celebrating Mass here at school on Tuesday 15th August at 11.15 am. The parish will not have their normal 9.30 am Mass, as Fr Joseph is away on leave. This Feast Day honours our Mother Mary, as the first disciple, and her assumption into Heaven, body and soul.
Have a wonderful week,
Kind regards,
Karen Keddie
