Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School would like to acknowledge the
Traditional Owners of the land, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation
and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
Here is the land, here is the sky.
Here are my friends and here am I.
We thank the Whadjuk Noongar people
for the land on which we play and learn.
Hands up, hands down
We’re on Noongar ground.
On the Feast of the Transfiguration ….
Guide Us by Your Light
Merciful and eternal God, heavenly Father,
thank you for revealing to us, the glory of your Son.
Let the light of your Gospel shine on us.
We pray that you guide us by this light
always be strengthened by your grace,
and conduct our lives in all godliness;
through your beloved Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students,
Year 6 Confirmation
Thank you to our Year 6 students, parents and sponsors, who attended the Confirmation Workshop on Wednesday evening. Mrs Clare Broad from the CEWA Catechist Team, gave an excellent presentation on the Sacrament. It was lovely to hear her feedback on how well-prepared our students are. Well done Miss Sheldrick. Please continue to keep the Year 6 students in your prayers as they move closer to the celebration of the Sacrament on the 19th of August.
P & F Bunnings Cake Stall and Sausage Sizzle
Our P&F held an incredibly successful Cake Stall at the Kalamunda Bunnings last Saturday, raising $653.
Please come along this Saturday to Bunnings Midland to support the Sausage Sizzle. Many thanks to all those who have volunteered to run the stall on the day and those who have donated goods.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day
Friday 4th August is a time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities and all Australians, celebrate the strengths and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. It is an opportunity for us to show our support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child.
Thank you to Tristan Look, Benedetto’s dad, for sharing some First Nation Stories in the library at lunchtime today, to mark this day.
Feast of St Mary of the Cross
We will be celebrating our first Australian saint, Mary MacKillop on Tuesday 8th August, with a prayer liturgy at 9 am in the Undercover Area. We warmly welcome all parents and family to attend.
Feast of the Assumption 15th August
Fr Anthony Suresh will be celebrating Mass here at school on Tuesday 15th August at 11.15 am. The parish will not have their normal 9.30 am Mass, as Fr Joseph is away on leave. This Feast Day honours our Mother Mary, as the first disciple, and her assumption into Heaven, body and soul.
2025 KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS – URGENT
Current families that require a place for siblings in Kindy 2025 (that are not enrolled in the 3-Year-Old Kindy program for 2024), must complete an application form as soon as possible, as places are filling up, and enrolment is not automatic. Please see the school office for further information.
