Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School would like to acknowledge the
Traditional Owners of the land, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation
and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
Here is the land, here is the sky.
Here are my friends and here am I.
We thank the Whadjuk Noongar people
for the land on which we play and learn.
Hands up, hands down
We’re on Noongar ground.
Happy Father’s Day
God, our Father
Bless our dads, grandfathers, and the father figures in our lives,
that they may find strength as fathers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
may honour them always
with a spirit of profound respect.
Amen
Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students
Thank you to our wonderful P&F for organising such a successful Father’s Day Breakfast this morning. It was terrific to see so many Dads and Grandfathers coming along. On behalf of our students, I thank all the father figures in our school community for your love, guidance and dedication to your children. I hope you have a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.
Faction Athletics Carnival
The Jumps and Throws events went smoothly last week as Part One of the carnival. Part Two is today. A huge thanks to Mrs Hewitt for organising everything. There is always such a lot to do and Mrs Hewitt is always extremely organised for a successful carnival. Thanks to our staff and parents for all your assistance on the day. Results will be advertised in next week’s newsletter.
Car Park
Parents and visitors are reminded to use the car bays available in the car park. Overflow parking is available on the overflow pit adjacent to the exit. Please do not park on the grass verge near the entry driveway. Vision is obscured when cars are parked on the grass verge during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Girl’s Winter Trousers
How fabulous does Leah look in the new girls’ winter trousers? The trousers are available in the Uniform Centre and, according to Leah, they are comfortable and warm.
Intentions for 2024
Parents of students who are not returning to Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School in 2024 are kindly requested to inform the school as soon as possible. We have wait lists of families wishing to enrol their children in most year levels. It is important we give them as much notice as possible. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

The Book Fair will be available in the Library on the following days:

Year 3 Reconciliation Retreat
Best wishes to Ms Curley and the Year 3 students for a successful Reconciliation Retreat on Monday. The students will be working with the youth leaders from 24/7 Ministries. I am sure it will be a reflective day of wonderful learning.
P&F News
Once again it was an excellent turnout of parents at the P&F Meeting this week. The P&F are busy organising The Referendum Election Day Cake Stall, the Colour Run and the Year Six Graduation. I am always impressed with the way our parents work together in the best interests of the students.
Once again, I wish all our families a very happy Father’s Day weekend.
Have a wonderful weekend.
