From Principal – Term 2, Week 11

Jun 29, 2021

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff and Students

Well, here we are at the end of a long and eventful term.  This time last week I would not have thought that I would sit here in my pyjamas, on LifeLink Pyjamas Day, and be preoccupied in making sure that I have everything in order to keep staff, students and parents as safe as possible during this most recent Covid lockdown. But, there you have it!  We control the things we can and leave everything else up to God.  Thankfully, this latest disruption is during the final week of the term.   Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate this final week of challenges together.  As always, the wellbeing of our students is our first priority.

On your behalf, I thank our staff for their dedication to their students during the term.  The staff have worked hard to ensure the individual needs of every student are catered for.  This has been most evident as I have read through the student Semester Reports.

At the end of this term we farewell Mrs Anni Schelfhout and thank her for the work she has done in supporting Mrs Brescacin and the Year 4 class during the term.  Anni leaves us to take up a permanent teaching position.  We welcome back Mrs Debbie Hawley from her long service leave at the commencement of Term Three.   I thank Mrs Krystle Neal for her work with the Year 3 class during Mrs Hawley’s absence.

LifeLink

The students and staff have enjoyed wearing their pyjamas to school this week to raise money for the Archbishops’ LifeLink Appeal.  LifeLink supports a range of Western Australian charity initiatives and makes a real difference to the lives of people in our community.  Thank you for your support of the LifeLink fundraising day.

Nature Playgrounds

I am very pleased to inform our community that the School Advisory Council has approved the first stage of the Nature Playgrounds development for 2021.  Nature Playgrounds will be installed in the Kindy and Pre-Primary playground in September, with the intention of having the playgrounds officially opened in time for our Matthew Gibney Day celebrations in Term Four.  The P&F support for the development of the next stage of the Nature Playgrounds is ongoing and we look forward to further structures coming to fruition later in the year.

Canteen and Uniform Shop Online

A letter will be coming home this week outlining the process for parents to order online for the canteen and the uniform shop.  The process, through CDF Pay, is a simple one, and can be accessed from a phone, tablet or computer. We hope the online ordering will provide parents with more flexibility and convenience when ordering lunches and uniforms.  The canteen will continue to take cash payments and the uniform shop will continue to be open on Thursday mornings for parents who wish to purchase directly. Please look out for instructions coming home shortly. Online ordering will be available from the commencement of Term Three.

Term Three Parent Planner

A copy of the Term Three Parent Planner will be available on our website at the end of this week.  A hard copy of the planner will be made available to parents in the first week of Term Three.

End of Term Prayer

We thank you Lord, for this term.

For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt.

Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right: to be witnesses of our faith.

Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others.

To be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun.

Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.

We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and a community that cares for us.

May we always be conscious of you in our lives.

Amen

Thank you to our parents for their ongoing support this term.  Best wishes to you all for a safe and relaxing school holiday break.

I look forward to welcoming the students back to school on Tuesday 20th July.

Warmest regards

Therese Hussey
