Dear Parents, Friends, Staff and Students
After a very busy term, I am sure everyone is looking forward to enjoying a well-deserved break over the next two weeks.
John 13:34
Love one another.
Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
We are called to responds to Jesus’ command – to love God and to love our neighbour.
We share in God’s mission to reach out, proclaim the Gospel, – serve people in need, – act for peace, justice and creation.
Bless us with Love, O Merciful God;
That we may Love as you Love!
That we may show patience, tolerance,
Kindness, caring and love to all!
Amen
First Reconciliation
Congratulations to our Year 3 students and parish children who celebrated the sacrament of First Reconciliation on Wednesday this week. Their excellent behaviour and participation is to be commended.
What an exciting week they have had starting with their retreat day on Monday. They had a fun-filled day with lots of different activities where they had an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of reconciliation and how they could bring this into their everyday lives.
A big thank you to Mrs Hawley, Mrs Keddie, Mrs Theseira and Mrs Kee who worked together to prepare the children for this important part of their faith journey. I would also like to thank Father Joseph and the other priests who assisted on Wednesday evening to make it such a special day.
Year One Prayer Liturgy
It was lovely to welcome parents and visitors to the Year One Prayer Liturgy this week. The Year One students reminded us about the gift of the environment and how we need to take care of it, as well as appreciate it. Thank you to Mrs Nickels for preparing the Year One students for their Liturgy.
P & F Disco and Bingo
Our P & F have been working very hard behind the scenes to organise this event which will be taking place on Friday 14th October, at 7.00p.m. If you haven’t already booked your table, please contact the front office or your class rep for further information.
Year Two Assembly
On Tuesday this week, Year Two had their class assembly. They shared with us what they had learned through their writing, a poem and a song. It was very entertaining and fabulous to hear all of the interesting things that they had learnt throughout the term.
Mini Vinnies
At the Year Two assembly on Tuesday, our Mini Vinnies were very proud to hand over a donation of $600 to the St Vincent de Paul, Maida Vale Conference representatives. The money was raised through our Milo Mornings which were run by the Year 5 Mini Vinnies, with the assistance of Mrs Keddie and Mrs Hawley. A big thank you to our generous families who supported this initiative.
Crazy Hat & Socks Day
On Thursday 13th October (Week One), all K to Yr 6 students are encouraged to participate in our Catholic Mission Fundraiser. Students may wear a crazy hat and/or crazy socks to school with their normal Sport uniform that day. Donations of $1 for a Crazy Hat, $1 for Crazy Socks, $2 for both, will be collected by our Mini Vinnies.
Catholic Mission, as the Australian agency of the Pontifical Mission Society contributes funding and provides project support to critical church-run initiatives in Africa, Asia, Oceania and South America as well as remote dioceses within Australia.
October – Month of The Rosary
On Monday 17th October, we will be welcoming the Legion of Mary from our local parish, who will be leading a procession in honour of Mary to our Sacred Space where we will gather to pray the Rosary as a school.
Family members are most welcome to attend and participate in this celebration.
The Month of the Holy Rosary is a special time dedicated to praying the Rosary. The Rosary is an important part of our Catholic tradition. The word “Rosary” translates to “Crown of Roses.” It is believed that each time the Holy Rosary is recited, a crown of roses is placed upon the heads of the Blessed Mother and Jesus, which will never disappear.
Interschool Athletics Carnival
Due to the impromptu Public Holiday on Thursday this week, to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the Interschool Athletics Carnival has been rescheduled for Tuesday 1st November. Students who will be participating in this event have been notified. Permission slips will be sent home in Week One of next term.
Term Planner
The Term Four Planner was sent home earlier this week. A copy can also be found on our school website. All Term Planners are correct at the time of printing, however, due to the nature of school life, there are times when you will be notified of changes to these plans via SeeSaw. It is essential that parents regularly check SeeSaw for updates to ensure that they are aware of changes.
A late addition to the Term Planner is the Kindy & Year Two Excursion to the Zoo on Monday 17th October.
Enjoy the school holiday break with your families. Hopefully we get to enjoy some beautiful sunny days! We look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 10th October for the start of Term Four.
Warm regards
Diane Scriven
Principal (Short Term)
