From Principal – Term 3, Week 6

Aug 25, 2022

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff and Students

Congratulations to our Year 6 students. The reverence with which they received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Friday evening was most admirable. Thank you to the teachers and parents for supporting and preparing the students.

Congratulations to Adrian Delgado for receiving the sacrament of First Eucharist during the Year 4 Class Mass. The Mass was a special occasion for Adrian to share with his classmates.

Congratulations to the Year 4, 5 and 6 students for their performance of “Little Red Riding Hood” for the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival. The performance was vibrant, polished, and highly entertaining. Thank you Mrs Aldred, and staff, for the preparation for the musical. The time and effort was well worth it!

The Book Week Parade this morning was great fun.  Our students (and staff) love dressing up.  Book Week is such a special week to be immersed in the joy of literature.  Literature provides our students with a welcome break from the everyday and gives them an opportunity to let their imaginations soar.

A huge THANK YOU to all those involved in the success of the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle over the weekend.  special thanks to Kacey Waddington for the time and effort she put in to organising such a successful event for the P&F.  I was so pleased to see so many parents happily volunteering their time to come and assist.  Your efforts are greatly appreciated.  The sausage sizzle raised in excess of $3000!! A record – well done everyone!

Please support Borello Beef, who have been so generous in supporting our sausage sizzle for the past few years. The generosity of Borrello Meats has added significantly to the profits made at the sausage sizzle.

During these last two weeks we have focused on the Making Jesus Real value of “kindness.” I see kindness daily in many aspects of school life. Kindness is evident in actions, words, and attitudes.  Kindness enhances positivity and makes children (and adults) feel good about themselves. Although kindness is alive and well at Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School, we should not be complacent. We encourage the students to always be aware of the need for kindness as they strive to be like Jesus every day.

Dear Jesus
Help me to live your goodness and kindness each day.
Remind me that my actions express who I am even more than my words.
May I love as you love.
Let me be good to those who wish me harm,
forgive those who need forgiveness,
and reach out in kindness to all I meet so they can experience the unconditional love of God.
Set our hearts on fire for you.
Amen.

Scholastic Book Fair

Do not forget the Scholastic Book Fair commencing in the Library on Friday 2nd September.  Information about the Book Fair competition was sent home, via Seesaw, earlier this week.

Father’s Day Breakfast and Factions Athletics Carnival

Parents are reminded that the annual Faction Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 2nd September, commencing in at 9.00am. Please join us before hand for the P&F Father’s Day Breakfast. Please stay, if you can, to help set up our new marquees in preparation for the carnival.  Any help you can provide will be appreciated.

The Jumps and Throws will be held on Thursday 1st September during the morning.  Once again, parents are most welcome to come along and support the children.

School Tour Day

School Tours will be held on Tuesday 6th September. Tours will be available in the morning at 9.30am and in the afternoon at 4.00pm. Please encourage family, friends and neighbours who may be interested in enrolling at our school for Pre-Kindy in 2023 or Kindy in 2024 to come along to the school tour.  The tours provide an opportunity for prospective families to learn more about our school and hear directly from the students the benefits of a Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School education.

Best wishes for another busy week ahead.

Warm regards

Therese Hussey
