Dear Parents, Friends, Staff and Students
On Sunday we commence the first week of Advent. Advent is our time of preparation for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. It is a time of great joy and anticipation for the birth of God’s Son, Jesus. The first Sunday of Advent gives us the opportunity to centre our thoughts on hope.
Father, let your hope arise in our hearts!
Lift our eyes up to see that you alone are where our hope comes from.
Help us to shake off the anxiety, discouragements, and distractions that have filled this year.
May we pause to remember that we have hope in you.
We invite your Spirit into this beautiful Advent season.
Renew our sense of holy anticipation!
Let us be those who are waiting eagerly for Jesus to come again.
More than anything, we ask that you be glorified in this season of expectation.
Amen.
Annual Community Meeting
Thank you for your attendance at the Annual Community Meeting last night. The reports from the Catholic School Advisory Council and the Parents and Friends Committee provided us with a snapshot of all that has been achieved during the year. Our parents and volunteers should be proud of their contributions towards the success of the school during 2022. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to take on various roles in 2023. A list of roles will be made available to parents in next week’s newsletter. The various reports from the Annual Community Meeting will be made available on the school website.
2023 Staff
I know parents are keen to know the teaching staff for 2023. I have a few more things to sort out, but my intention is to announce staffing to parents in next week’s newsletter.
Edu Dance and Nativity Concert
The Edu Dance and Nativity Concert is next Friday 2nd December, commencing at 6.00pm. Gates will open at 5.15pm for parents to come and have a picnic tea, should they wish to before the concert commences. Students will need to be in their classrooms at 5.30pm to get ready for the concert. Over the past few years, we have had students miss the concert because they have had an accident at school running around, prior to the concert commencing. We are trying to avoid this happening by having a shorter period of time with the students unsupervised.
Christmas Clothing
In Weeks 8 and 9 the students may wear Christmas accessories to school. They may like to wear Christmas earrings and Christmas head bands, or little Christmas hats to get into the Christmas spirit.
Year 6 Final Assembly, Thanksgiving and Graduating Mass
In Week 8 and 9 we have our final main events for the year. You do not want to miss the Year 6 Final Assembly. The students have been busy rehearsing and preparing for the assembly. Please come along and join in the fun as our Year 6 students entertain us one last time on Friday 2nd December at 9.00am.
The Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday 8th December is an opportunity for our community to come together in gratitude and thanksgiving to God for the success of the 2022 school year. We will acknowledge and pray for our Year 6 graduating students during the Mass. Mass will be followed by the Graduation Ceremony and morning tea. All are welcome to join us. Mass commences at 9.05am.
Pre-Kindy and Kindy Enrolments 2024
We are currently accepting enrolments for Pre-Kindy and Kindy in 2024. Please inform family, friends and neighbours, who are interested in sending their children to Matthew Gibney, to collect enrolment forms as soon as possible. Enrolment interviews will take place in Term One 2023 for the 2024 school year.
Enjoy this warmer weather. It is the first day of Summer next week and it is starting to feel as though the holidays are getting closer.
Warm regards
Therese
