Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School would like to acknowledge the
Traditional Owners of the land,
the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation
and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Here is the land, here is the sky.
Here are my friends and here am I.
We thank the Whadjuk Noongar people
for the land on which we play and learn.
Hands up, hands down
We’re on Noongar ground.

P & F Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

A huge thank you to our P&F and their amazing team of helpers for the Midland Bunnings Sausage Sizzle last Saturday.  What a great Matthew Gibney Community event!  It was lovely to see so many of our families turning up to buy a sausage sizzle.  The total amount raised will be revealed very soon by the P&F.  Days like this, do not happen without a great deal of hard work and preparation behind the scenes.  Congratulations to Kacey and her team for their organisation.

Feast of the Assumption 15th August

Fr Anthony Suresh will be celebrating Mass here at school on Tuesday 15th August at 11.15 am.  This Feast Day honours our Mother Mary, as the first disciple, and her assumption into Heaven, body and soul.  We warmly welcome any family members who would like to attend.

National Science Week 2023

Next week, August 14th – 18th, is “National Science Week”.  This year’s theme is “Innovation – Powering Future Industries”.

This annual event promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. It showcases the importance of science in our daily lives, encourages students to explore scientific careers, and highlights the remarkable achievements of scientists. Throughout this week Matthew Gibney students will be involved in Buddy activities to excite our future scientists and innovators.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Please continue to pray for our Confirmation Candidates as they reach the final stages of their preparation, in readiness for Confirmation on Saturday 19th August at 6 pm.

This week, they will participate in their Rehearsal at the church on Thursday afternoon 3.30 – 4.30 pm, and then their Retreat Day on Friday 18th August with the 24/7 Youth Ministry Team.

Have a wonderful week,

Kind regards,
