From the Principal – Term 4, Week 4

Nov 2, 2023

Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School would like to acknowledge the
Traditional Owners of the land,
the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation
and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Here is the land, here is the sky.
Here are my friends and here am I.
We thank the Whadjuk Noongar people
for the land on which we play and learn.
Hands up, hands down
We’re on Noongar ground.

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students

I prepare this newsletter from the sunny shores of Busselton as I accompany the Year 6 students on their annual Leadership Camp. The camp is a valuable leadership opportunity for our students as they prepare to complete their primary school education and move on to secondary school. We can certainly see the students rise to the many challenges on offer to them during their few days on camp. We thank God for this opportunity, especially as it is denied to so many children in our world today. I thank Miss Sheldrick, Ms Grant and Mrs Tormey for accompanying the students and for their care and dedication to ensuring a wonderful experience for them all.

All Saints and All Souls Day

The first week of November is significant in the life of our church. During the first week, we celebrate both the Feast of All Saints, followed by the Feast of All Souls. During the month of November, we continue to pray for loved ones who have gone before us. All Saints Day celebrates the countless number of saints in our church—those known and those unknown. We can all strive to be saints as we live our lives loving God and loving our neighbour.

PRAYER FOR ALL SOULS

Loving God,

We thank you for the lives of our loved ones who have died. We ask you to care for those who are missing them at this time.

May we always remember your promise that, one day we will all be together in heaven.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
