From the Principal – Term 4, Week 5

Nov 10, 2023

Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School would like to acknowledge the
Traditional Owners of the land,
the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation
and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Here is the land, here is the sky.
Here are my friends and here am I.
We thank the Whadjuk Noongar people
for the land on which we play and learn.
Hands up, hands down
We’re on Noongar ground.

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff, and Students

Lunch on the Lawn

Thank you for joining us for “Lunch on the Lawn.”  It is always an enjoyable event, and we love welcoming so many parents and grandparents to come along and join in the fun of sharing the time together.

Welcome to Freddie the Therapy Dog

It was such an exciting day at school on Wednesday when Ms Grant brought Freddie to school for his first day as a new member of staff.  The children were excited to welcome Freddie as he visited classes.  Freddie was very well-behaved on his first day. Freddie was a little shy, but in usual Matthew Gibney fashion, our children made sure he felt comfortable and welcomed.

Colour Run – P&F Thank you!

A huge thanks to parents, staff, and students for such a successful Colour Run.  Every aspect of the Colour Run worked wonderfully. Thank you to all involved for getting behind the Colour Run as we raise money towards the 2024 Science Lab.

Intentions for 2024

We have wait lists for most year levels in 2024.  Please inform the office if, for any reason, you are moving on next year and your children will not be attending Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School. Thank you for your attention to this.

Remembrance Day

Thank you Ms Zurzolo, Ms Watt and the Year 5 class for leading us in such a reverent and prayerful Remembrance Day Service this morning. Prayers and reflections were sincere and appropriate.

On this day of Remembrance, we remember the courageous men and women,
who gave their lives in wartime and as a result of war.
As we remember the lives that have been lost, let us promise each other to work for the freedom of all who are oppressed in the world today.
We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus who taught us how to live.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
