From the Principal – Term 1, Week 5

Mar 2, 2021

Dear Parents, Friends, Staff and Students

The annual Family Welcoming Picnic will be held on the school grounds on Friday 5th March commencing at 5.30pm.  Please come along and join in with other families to re-connect and make new friends.  There will be plenty of activities to keep the children occupied.  Food will be available to purchase throughout the evening.  Please bring along your picnic rugs, camp chairs and enjoy a relaxing family night.  In the interests of child safety parents are reminded to supervise their own children.  Adult portable toilets will be available for adults to use during the evening.  In order to abide by COVID 19 regulations a QR sign in will be available for all adults attending the picnic.  A sign in sheet will be available, for those who do not have the app on their phones. I look forward to welcoming parents to the picnic on Friday evening.

Coffee Van Monday

A coffee van, courtesy of the P&F, will be available at school on Monday 8th March from 8.30am.  Please come along for a coffee and chat after dropping the children at school.  I will have a quick chat to parents during the coffee morning to talk about our Master Plan proposals and our school improvement goals for 2021.  Please join us, grab a coffee before rushing off to work or home, and spend a few minutes having a chat.

Student code of Conduct

I am most grateful to the Year Six students, under the direction of Miss Zurzolo and Mrs Keddie, for preparing a Student Code of Conduct to guide expected behaviours for students at school. The students have aligned the Code of Conduct with our Making Jesus Real values.  The Code of Conduct is a practical and clear document that all year levels can understand.  We look forward to launching the new Student Code of Conduct at the next school assembly.

Holy Week Event – Stations of the Cross

This year we are trying something a little different for our Holy Week commemoration.  The Easter Play was presented in Term Four last year so it is a little too soon to be preparing for the Easter Play once again.  In its place this year all students will participate in the enactment of the Stations of the Cross.  The Stations of the Cross are traditionally prayed each Friday during Lent culminating in a larger commemoration on Good Friday.  Mrs Keddie has been busy preparing for the Stations of the Cross to be prayed and acted outdoors using our beautiful school grounds.  Parents and friends are most welcome to come along and join in this special event. Morning tea will be available following the Stations of the Cross.  Please keep Wednesday 31st March free for the Stations of the Cross which will commence at 9.00am.

Save the Date – P&F Quiz Night

We are getting in early with this one, but please save the date, Saturday 19th June, for the P&F 30th Anniversary Quiz Night.  The evening promises to be lots of fun with plenty of prizes to be won dung the evening.  Encourage family and friends to join you and save the date for this inaugural event for 2021.

Second Week of Lent

During this second week of our Lenten journey we take the time to think about the beauty of life that God has given to each of us.  In giving us the beauty of life God wants us to be drawn into Him and to listen to Him as he gives us all we require to be in union with His most glorious love.

Loving God,
I hear your invitation, “Come back to me”
and I am filled with such a longing to return to you.
Show me the way to return.
Lead me this day in good works I do in your name
and send your Spirit to guide me and strengthen my faith.
I ask only to feel your love in my life today.

I look forward to welcoming families to the Welcoming Picnic on Friday evening.  Fingers crossed for fine weather.

Best wishes for the week ahead.
