From the Principal – Term 3, Week 1

Jul 24, 2020

Dear Parents, Friends, Students and Staff

It was my pleasure to welcome our students back to school on Monday morning and hear their stories about camping trips, holidays away, movie visits, zoo visits and hanging out at home.  It was heartening to see smiles and lively chatter as the students greeted their teachers and classmates and prepared for the new school term of learning.  Sincerest thanks to our staff for their work in preparing their classrooms for the new term and for the wonderful learning experiences they have planned.

We are delighted to welcome new students to our school for the commencement of Term Three.  We welcome Amy and Marcus to the Year Five class and we welcome Holly to the Year Three class.  We wish Holly, Marcus and Amy all the best as they commence their association with our school. I take this opportunity to thank our students for welcoming new children to Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School.

Over the next two weeks, the students will be focusing on the value of “Kindness.”  At the Monday morning assembly, we spoke about the fact that if everyone at school always showed kindness, love and respect we would have no need for school rules.  We show kindness when we are inclusive, welcoming and respectful to others.  We can all be reminded that Jesus always showed kindness, especially to the vulnerable and downtrodden.  Showing kindness is Making Jesus Real in our daily lives.

I look forward to welcoming parents to the Thank You Sundowner on Friday evening at 6.00pm in the Library.

Best wishes for the week ahead.
