From the Principal – Term 4, Week 6

Nov 19, 2020

Dear Parents, Friends, Students and Staff,

This week we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King.  The Feast of Christ the King is celebrated in honour of Jesus Christ as Lord over all creation.  The Kingdom of God is the central teaching throughout the Gospels, and Jesus begins his public ministry by preaching about the Kingdom.

O Lord our God, you alone are the most holy king and ruler of all nations. We pray to you, Lord, in the great expectation of receiving from you, O Divine King, mercy, peace, justice, and all good things. Protect, O Lord our King, our families and the land of our birth. May your reign, your kingdom, be recognized on earth. Amen.

This is the final week in the Church’s liturgical year, before we commence the first week of Advent. Yes, the countdown to Christmas has commenced – don’t panic!  It is going to be a whirlwind final three weeks of the term.  Please keep a look out for dates and events listed in this newsletter.

Kindergarten 2021 Orientation Afternoon

We look forward to welcoming parents to the 2021 Kindy Orientation afternoon on Tuesday 24th November commencing at 2.15pm.  Kindy -shirts, jumpers and hats will be available for parents to purchase on the day.  Payments can be made with either cash or credit card.

Absentee Information

It is a legal requirement that schools keep up to date records about student absentees.  The school is always diligent in ensuring SMS messages are sent to parents when students do not attend school and we have not had a parent notification.  Parents must reply to the SMS message.  Failure to do so results in us having to send further letters to parents.  Please help us ensure the safety and wellbeing of the students by keeping the school informed if children are absent from school for any reason.

Gilbert Fresh Support Our Schools Program

Thank you to our families for supporting the Gilbert’s Fresh Midland, Support Our Schools Program. Your support of the program, by shopping at Gilbert’s Fresh, has earnt the school a bonus payment of $255.00. We look forward to continuing this partnership into 2021.

The Year Four Assembly has been postponed to Friday 27th November.  Please note this date change on your calendars.

Please note that the Pre-Primary 2021 orientation date advertised on the school planner for 25th November has been cancelled.  This date was for parents only.  A note explaining the process for the parent orientation for Pre-Primary in 2021 will be sent home to parents shortly.

We currently have wait lists for a number of classes for 2021.  In order to cater as best we can for new families, please inform the office as soon as possible if you will not be returning to Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School in 2021.
