Making Jesus Real          Week  3 Term 2

Our MJR focus for the next 2 weeks is about using encouragement every day to show love and care for others.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up”

(Thessalonians 5:5)

At Matthew Gibney we encourage each other everyday. We offer help and support, we share ideas and resources, we LISTEN and we build relationships with others and value them. We encourage each other every time we speak positively and recognise people’s efforts, hard work and behaviour. We work best when we know we are valued, when our work is acknowledged and appreciated by others.

Honouring Mary

For centuries, the Catholic Church has emphasized the month of May as a time of honour and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is a source of grace, truth, and mercy.

On Monday morning, the children and staff participated on our annual procession as we welcomed Our Lady to spend time with us this week. Each day, classes will say the Rosary with Our Lady in the Sacred Space. Every child received a set of Rosary Beads from the St Francis of Assisi Legion of Mary. We greatly appreciate the support and encouragement that the Legion gives our school each year.

P&F 30th Anniversary Quiz Night

It has been wonderful to see the generosity of our families with the donations for the P&F Quiz Night.  The donations box is in the administration office for parents who have not yet donated, and would like to do so. In particular, the committee could do with further hamper style donations, e.g. chocolates, wine, hand creams etc. Please consider purchasing a table of 10 tickets for the Quiz Night and come along to enjoy what promises to be a fun evening.

Thank You Message from St Mary’s Northampton

I am pleased to attached the following message from Mr Ben Will, Principal of St Mary’s in Northampton, thanking us for the generous donation towards their families following the recent cyclone.

Thank you for the very kind words, thoughts, prayers and wonderful news regarding the fundraiser. I would like to pass my deep appreciation onto your community for their generosity on behalf of all the students at St Mary’s school.

As a result of the Cyclone there has been a free service offered for school lunches and dinners for families that have been displaced. The funds raised by your school will directly help to fund this program throughout the term.

Once again thank you to you and your community for your generous donation, this is what being a system of Catholic schools is all about.
