Dates and Celebrations

The handing back of Uluru to the Anangu people was a significant occasion back in October 1985. Located in the heart of Australia, Uluru is one of Australia’s most recognisable landmarks. For the local Anangu people, Uluru has been there forever and is a deeply sacred place. The ceremony to hand back the title of Uluru took place on October 26th, 1985. The park continues to be managed by the Anangu people today.
