Good News
The Year Two class have been learning about places we are connected too!
Religious Education News
On the 24th May, we celebrate the Feast of Mary, Help of Christians. Australia has been under her patronage since 1844, when there were few priests in Australia, and the Rosary kept the faith alive in the many immigrants who settled in Australia. May Australia still continue to prosper under her care.
Lord, you place deep in our hearts the love of Mary, help of Christians.
Through her prayers grant wisdom to our leaders and integrity to our people.
Under her protection may Australia be granted harmony, justice and peace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Mini Vinnies Milo Mornings
19 more days to the start of the Year 5 Mini Vinnies Milo Mornings. We are going to be selling warm milo with marshmallows from the canteen from 8.20 on Thursday 11th June.
Please support us as we help the St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal.
Our MJR focus for the upcoming weeks is FRIENDSHIP.
Matthew Gibney is already a place of friendship, for our students, our parents and the staff. However, it is always a good idea to look around with fresh eyes and make sure that everyone is is sharing friendship because good friendships just don’t happen. They are made by people who are willing to be themselves with each other. So over the next few weeks, let’s open our hearts and reach out to others in friendship.
Year 3 News
The children have all returned back to school with lots of energy and enthusiasm! Last week, we celebrated everyone’s return to school with a small party and movie! I was very proud of the diligent way in which the children who were working at home, completed their home-schooling packs. Thank you to their families who supported them daily and provided suitable learning environments for them. We are back into our normal class routines which include homework – maths games, spelling and reading. As a reminder, reading books and reading logs are to be returned to school every Friday. If the books have not been completed, they will be returned for completion on Monday. We were very excited to hear of the arrival of Cooper’s baby sister last Friday. He is a very proud ’big brother’ and we send our congratulations to his family! We would also like to congratulate Christian who received the Mathew Gibney ‘Making Jesus Real’ award this week. Christian was a worthy recipient of this award as he always displays the virtues of “The Spirit of Jesus”. Well done Christian! Have a great week!

Pre-Kindy 2021
We are currently accepting enrolments for Pre-Kindy in 2021. Children are invited to commence in the Pre-Kindy class at any time during the year, once they have turned three years old. Our Pre-Kindy program is staffed by a qualified early childhood teacher and teacher assistant. The program is competitively priced at $55 per session. The sessions are for one full day. Please encourage neighbours, friends and family to consider the Pre-Kindy at Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School for their three-year-old children as an excellent alternative to daycare.
